Rathfinny Wine Estate, renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship and dedication to producing premium sparkling wines, proudly announces the launch of their latest innovation: the Rathfinny Mini Cuvée 2020 50cl. The UK’s first 50cl bottle of sparkling wine, this exciting addition to Rathfinny’s portfolio reaffirms their position as a leading player in the world of luxury sparkling wines and showcases their commitment to innovation and excellence.

The ‘Rathfinny Mini’ is a testament to the Estate’s relentless pursuit of crafting exceptional sparkling wines to delight their customers. The new ‘Mini Cuvée’ offers wine enthusiasts an alternative and convenient way to enjoy sparkling wine in a smaller 50cl bottle, the perfect size bottle for two people to share, with a pour of four glasses. The smaller bottle size allows customers to indulge in a glass of sparkling on more occasions, whether it is a couple of glasses at lunch, a toast with a friend at the theatre or a casual apéritif before dinner; the Rathfinny Mini offers a sense of occasion on a smaller scale. Additionally, the smaller format caters to those who wish to consume less alcohol without compromising on taste or quality.

The Rathfinny ‘Mini Cuvée’ is bottle-aged and fermented, unlike many half (37.5cl) bottles which are generally filled by the transfer method from a larger bottle and therefore not considered to be of the same quality.

Rathfinny, having campaigned to legislate the 50cl bottle for several years, laid down the first batch of the Rathfinny Mini Cuvée from the 2020 vintage. This is a blend of 55% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Meunier. A further 5,000 bottles from the 2021 vintage were bottled in June 2022.

As a brand synonymous with excellence, Rathfinny Wine continues to lead the way in the world of English sparkling wines. The launch of the Rathfinny Mini 50cl Cuvée further solidifies Rathfinny’s reputation as an industry pioneer and underscores their dedication to providing unparalleled choice and experiences to wine enthusiasts in the UK. There is great potential to accelerate the growth of the English Sparkling Wine category in the UK, and other markets where the 50cl bottle size is permitted.

“We are thrilled to introduce the Rathfinny Mini Cuvée 50cl,” said Mark Driver, Co-Founder of Rathfinny Wine Estate. “The Rathfinny Mini, is a terrific bottle size. As Matthew Jukes has said, sparkling wine should be sold in two formats 50cls and Magnums (150cl). The Mini is the perfect sized bottle when you want a little indulgence and sense of occasion without the temptation or time to have more.”

Sarah Driver, Co-Founder noted: “The Rathfinny Mini provides consumers with more choice – the perfect sized bottle for two people to share, without the need to overindulge. The Rathfinny Mini also appeals to the current consumer climate, with many looking to drink slightly less but better-quality wine – the 50cl bottle allows those wishing to reduce alcohol intake to still enjoy an excellent quality sparkling. We are delighted to be the first English Sparkling to offer this to the market.”

Sarah Williams, Group Food and Beverage Manager of Firmdale Hotels stated that: “The new Rathfinny Mini, in its 50cl format is a great addition to our list of amenities for gifting, especially for single occupancy stays or guests staying just one night. It’s a beautiful bottle that we’re confident our international guests will love, as they are always keen to try something British. The smaller format will also work well in our restaurants if a table would like to start with something sparkling, but understandably don’t fancy ordering a full bottle. All in all, we think the Rathfinny Mini will be a lovely way for guests to dip their toes into the incredible world of English sparkling.”

“We are very excited to partner with Rathfinny to help bring their newly launched Mini for all to try this spring. Such a clever idea from its inception, so typical of all that is Rathfinny, this may prove to be the best bottle going when enjoying tea for two. We will initially launch exclusively in Woven by Adam Smith before using across our estate later in the year,” noted Jonathan Ellson, Director of Food and Beverage at Coworth Park, part of the Dorchester Collection.
Ted Sandbach, Owner and Chair of Oxford Wine Company, said: “We are delighted to be one of the first retailers to be offer the new Rathfinny Mini. The 500ml size is just perfect for two to share – a half bottle never seems quite enough, especially of such a delicious wine! Having visited Rathfinny Estate right at its inception, it has been an absolute pleasure to watch this excellent producer grow to be one of the leaders of the English Sparkling Wine category. Cheers!”
The Mini will be stocked with Oxford Wine CompanyRRP £24.50.
